As the highest mountain range on Earth, the Himalaya are the type example of an active collisional boundary between two continental plates.Recent earthquakes, such as the 2015 M7.8 Gorkhaearthquake, highlight the complexity of this tectonic collision and the extreme hazards associated withthis process. Our speakers will examine the large-scale tectonic processes driving the growth of the Himalaya while providing a peek into the dramatic scenery and what it's like to operate as a geoscientist in the region.
