Gatton Student Center, 212C Grand Ballroom
Avenue of Champions, Lexington, KY

This proposal seeks to create a day-long statewide conference at the University of Kentucky that will provide engaging educational resources and support centered around the theme of Black Voices. The University of Kentucky Black Student Union has a reputation of creating innovative events on campus that are held annually for decades. This proposal seeks to outline a new university tradition, that of a Black Student Union Conference. This conference is meant to highlight the multicultural experience through different annual themes, guest speakers, and engaging sub-topics throughout the conference. There is no limitation on who may attend this conference, so long as they are associated with a university in the state of Kentucky. The theme for 2019 is Black Voices which seeks to highlight the many ways in which people of African descent have used their voice throughout history including through cuisine, poetry, and law.
