Breonna Taylor Symposium
Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 8:00am to 5:00pm
Rosenberg College of Law, Grand Courtroom
When police rammed the door of Breonna Taylor’s home and shot her six times in a hail of thirty-two bullets, their legal justification for being there remains highly contested. The affidavit supporting the warrant was perjurious, stale, vague, and lacking in particularity. Sixteen witnesses state that they did not hear the police announce themselves at the door of Taylor’s home. This symposium questions both the legality of both the search warrant acquisition and its execution. The University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law welcomes scholars, activists, law school students, prospective students, and the public generally. The purpose of this symposium is to engage the public in an open analysis of the legal issues surrounding the search warrant in a public discourse.
