Virtual EventDr. Dina Bader is a Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar (Swiss National Science Foundation) in the Department of Sociology at New York University. Her research interests include migration, gender, racism, and nationalism. This presentation will examine what court cases of FGM reveal about femonationalism in the U.S. and discuss the symbolic meaning of granting asylum to and deporting immigrants in the name of women’s rights.
