Fine Arts Institute--Creative Baskets and Woven Vessels
Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00pm to 3:00pm
SAVS/School for Art & Visual Studies, SAVS 113
In this class we will explore basic basketry techniques, gain an understanding of how woven structures operate, and explore how these techniques can be applied to non traditional materials. Not all “basket weaving” results in a vessel. Basketry weaving is essentially the act of weaving without a loom, and offers the artist the ability to use materials that aren’t compatible with looms. That said, if baskets are your goal, this class is a great way to launch your basketry journey! (New Paragraph) This class is open to all levels. The techniques we discuss will be accessible to the beginner, and will get you started. For the experienced basket maker, this class will offer you new ways to approach the “basket."
