Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 4:00pm to 5:30pm
Gatton Student Center East Wing 3rd Floor Conference Room
The Neurodiverse Educational Social Initiative (NESI) is a pilot program by the Disability Resource Center. With the support of staff across the University of Kentucky, it is designed to supplement existing services offered across the University specifically in creating a sense of belonging and educational opportunities for neurodiverse students. NESI is open to all students, regardless of formal documentation of disability. All that is required is a desire to learn about neurodiversity and find a space to belong at UK. NESI is offered at no additional cost to students
NESI is designed to be staff led and student directed. On a weekly basis, students will meet to participate in activities such as dinners, board games or watch parties. Included in these meetings will be discussions of social topics and life skills. The schedule of these discussions is determined based on student input and interest. Students will also be referred to other resources at UK that partner with NESI to work with neurodiverse students.NESI is not a counseling program and does not replace therapy or other psychological treatment options.
